Writing a rhetorical analysis proved difficult when my mind was so wrapped up in the literature reviews, poetry, and introspection of last semester in FIQWS. I remember struggling to base an entire essay off one source and somehow find enough material to keep going for pages upon pages. I truly appreciated all the notes my reviewers gave me when they suggested I move certain paragraphs around (as indicated by the differences between my initial and final drafts) to improve the clarity and tone of my essay. I also really enjoyed seeing all the ways we can view and interpret advertisements, speeches, and general media around us. It really provided so much perspective and was a great way to start writing this semester.
